Z Sound View is a Chrome extension that helps turn browser audio into visual captions, sound cues, and sound radar signals.

What Z Sound View Processes

Z Sound View may process browser audio from the active tab when live captions are turned on.

Z Sound View may also read basic tab information, such as tab title, tab ID, and whether a tab is currently audible, so it can show the sound radar and help you switch to or manage audible tabs.

Local Processing

Audio processing happens locally on your device.

Z Sound View does not send your audio, captions, sound analysis, tab titles, or browsing activity to Z Sound View servers.

Model Downloads

Z Sound View may connect to allowlisted model hosting services to download pinned machine learning model files on first use. These downloads are model files only. Your audio, captions, sound analysis, tab titles, and browsing activity are not sent with those model downloads.

Data Collection

Z Sound View does not collect, sell, rent, or share personal data.

Z Sound View does not use analytics, telemetry, tracking pixels, advertising identifiers, or behavioral profiling.

Accounts and Login

Z Sound View does not require an account, email address, login, or subscription.

Storage

Z Sound View may store your extension settings locally in your browser, such as caption position, text size, theme, panel opacity, and whether sound event chips are enabled.

These settings stay on your device unless your browser sync settings copy extension data through your own browser account.

Permissions

Z Sound View uses Chrome extension permissions only to provide its features, including captions, sound radar, tab switching, and muting audible tabs.

Third Parties

Z Sound View does not send data to third party analytics, advertising, or tracking services.

The extension may include local open source software components used for audio processing and machine learning. These components run inside the extension on your device.

The use of information received from Chrome APIs follows the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Accuracy and Safety Disclaimer

Z Sound View is a visual accessibility aid, not a guaranteed transcription or safety tool. Captions and sound detection may be incomplete or inaccurate depending on website behavior, audio clarity, background noise, music, accents, and device performance.

Do not rely on Z Sound View for emergencies, safety critical alerts, medical, legal, or other high risk decisions.

Children

Z Sound View is not designed to collect information from children and does not knowingly collect personal data from anyone.

Changes

This policy may be updated if Z Sound View changes how it processes data. The effective date will be updated when changes are made.
